If large and bulky components have to be moved on special load carriers (1.5 meters long x 2.8 meters wide x 2.8 meters high), a conventional SRM must be converted into a special SRM. The two installations are between 36 meters and 49 meters long and almost 8 meters high. The carriage is over 6 meters long and 7.5 meters high. It travels at a speed of 3 m/s and accelerates at 2 m/s². The lifting speed is 1 m/s and the lifting acceleration is 1 m/s².

The special solution impresses with its small buffer zones and enables a high degree of space utilization and storage efficiency thanks to its compact design. The travel axle is driven by a rack and pinion, while the lifting axle is driven by belts. This combination of drive systems enables increased and faster positioning accuracy. This means that more goods can be stored in less space compared to a standard storage and retrieval unit. All drives and drive assemblies are at floor level. The RBG is therefore also impressive in terms of ease of maintenance and service. Optimum, even distribution of the forces on all ALFA-Speed rollers used increases smooth running and reduces stress and wear. In this special SRM solution, the upper guide rail only acts as a redundant guide. The resulting forces are a fraction of those of conventional SRMs. The load on the automated pallet racking warehouse is therefore marginal. Conversely, this means that more cost-effective APLs can be used.
