Robust Lifting Systems for Efficient Goods Handling
The most important information at a glanc
No two projects are the same. With every new challenge, we make sure that heavy loads are moved safely and efficiently. Sometimes they have to overcome great heights, sometimes it requires particularly sensitive handling. In this particular case, we had to develop two extremely robust lifting systems that are located outdoors and are essential for logistics processes in the chemical processing industry. This entailed special requirements that we were able to meet successfully.

The specific challenges at a glance
- Outdoor installation: Components such as drive media and load-bearing elements must be adapted to specific conditions such as weather influences and corrosion.
- Maximum corrosion protection: This means that all components and surfaces of the lifting systems must be highly resistant to moisture and other corrosive substances.
- Efficient goods transport: The lifting systems must transport goods efficiently, even under changing environmental conditions, and be durable to meet the high demands of the customer.
The tasks of lifting systems in use
The lifting systems are responsible for the efficient transport of goods from the ground floor to the upper floor on the customer’s premises. For this purpose, they are fitted with a roller conveyor provided by the customer, in terms of dimensions the lifting systems have been individually adapted. In addition, the load-bearing frame of the lifting system was specially developed to position the roller conveyor perpendicular to the lifting column, thus ensuring seamless integration into the existing logistics process.

Corrosion protection
One of the first challenges we faced in developing the lifting systems was selecting the right coating to ensure their durability and reliability in outdoor environments. The use of hot-dip galvanized steel components proved to be crucial. This protective layer significantly extends the service life of the system and ensures that it remains fully functional even after many years. In the hot-dip galvanizing process, the steel components are immersed in a bath of molten zinc, forming a protective layer that shields the steel from corrosion and rust. This zinc coating is particularly resistant to mechanical damage and environmental influences, making it ideal for use in harsh conditions.

Flat belts for special conditions
When designing the lifting systems, selecting the right drive medium was a crucial consideration. To move the lifting carriage without additional lubrication—since that would increase maintenance intervals—we opted for plastic belts. These flat belts are particularly suitable for demanding operating conditions, as they are low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant. These properties make them ideal for outdoor installations, where resilience to environmental influences is essential. Alternative drive media, such as roller chains, would have required regular lubrication, increasing maintenance effort.

Precision and stability under special conditions: ALFA-speed guide rollers made of polyamide
Another crucial component in eliminating the need for lubricants was the use of our ALFA-Speed polyamide guide rollers, which offer high resistance to wear. They also enable a travel speed of up to 5 m/s with low rolling resistance and smooth operation. Polyamide is particularly durable and does not rust, which enhances the longevity of the systems. In combination with specially adapted guide profiles, these guide rollers ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the lifting systems.

High load capacity for heavy loads
With all the special features of the lifting systems, their primary task must not be overlooked: handling heavy loads. The lifting systems are designed for a load capacity of 1,500 kg. This high load-bearing capacity is particularly crucial for transporting heavy goods in the chemical processing industry, where large and heavy containers often need to be moved. Thanks to precisely matched components, they are more than capable of ensuring stable and secure handling under full load, effectively supporting our customer’s production processes.

Optimal motor performance at controlled temperature
In addition, a powerful motor is used, specifically designed to operate efficiently even under high load and speed conditions. The motor’s temperature is continuously monitored and controlled to ensure flawless functionality even in cold temperatures and to extend the system’s lifespan. This guarantees a smooth and safe transport process, maintaining efficiency and productivity even in fluctuating temperatures and high humidity.
Adaptive lifting systems for extreme demands
By combining these carefully selected components—plastic belts, a powerful heated motor, and polyamide guide rollers—we have created a solution that fully meets the specialized requirements of the chemical processing industry. These measures ensure that the lifting systems not only withstand harsh outdoor conditions but also operate with robustness, minimal maintenance, and exceptional reliability, significantly enhancing the efficiency and longevity of the entire system.
